  • Finnish for Foreigners. SUMMER.

    Finnish for Foreigners is tailored for adults, who are interested in learning Finnish and finding out facts about Finland. You will learn a great deal about Finnish habits and life in Finland as well as Finnish language.

    Small group – max 10 students. 

    After each lesson you will get further explanations and motivating assignments in your email. This email is called “homework”.

    Finnish for Foreigners is organized  twice per year: Winter  group January to March and  Summer group May to June. After Finnish for Foreigners you can continue on Moving on with Finnish. There will be a group of Moving on starting in the end of March and in August, on the same day and time as Finnish for Foreigners. The exact starting dates will be announced later. 

  • Getting started. Very first steps to learn Finnish.

    For students who have none or very little knowledge of Finnish. You will learn the basics of Finnish language in an easygoing atmosphere. You will learn to introduce yourself, to make orders in cafĂ©s and much more. Words and sentences are practiced interactively. After this course you will be on CEFR level A 1.1. – A 1.2.

    This is a fast review of beginner’s level. You can join Moving on 5 weeks, if you need to revise Moving on 10 weeks  or if you have acquired some Finnish elsewhere. Before you join this group, you need to know how to introduce yourself, the days and months in Finnish, numbers, some foods and drinks, colors, to tell where you live and you must know how to conjugate verbs in present.

  • Finnish From A 1.3 to mastering Finnish, part 1. SUMMER

    Previous studies in Finnish basics are required. You are also expected to know English since it is the language used in teaching, alongside with Finnish.

    Jokainen kerta kestää noin 2 tuntia (arkena klo 17-19 TAI lauantaina klo 13-15). Keskustelemme paljon.

    Syyskuussa: Töölönlahden ympäri ma 4.9. klo 17-19. Sopii pyörätuolissa tai vaunujen kanssa

    Kävelemme Töölönlahden ympäri puhuen ja kuunnellen. Opitaan sanastoa kaupungissa ja opit kertomaan rakennuksista: mikä on pylväskäytävä, pitsihuvila ja mikäs ihme on kanto. Mikä on suojatie ja mikä taas on pelastusrengas. Mitä näillä tehdään ja miksi. Kävelyllä nähdään myös Helsingin pienin sähkölaitos.

    Syyskuussa:  Metsässä Helsingissä, pe 22.5. klo 17-19
    Tule mukaan puhumaan suomea, kävelemään ulkona, katsomaan eläimiä ja kasveja, nauttimaan puhtaasta ilmasta ja oppimaan uusia sanoja. Opiskelemme metsän sanoja, eläimiä ja paljon verbejä.  Kävelemme metsässä, kallioilla ja ja puutarhassa. Käymme myös uurnalehdossa. Kaikki keskellä Helsinkiä!

    Lokakuussa: Lapinlahden sairaala-alue (PÄIVÄ EI OLE VIELÄ VARATTU) Sopii pyörätuolissa tai vaunujen kanssa

    Opitaan paljon uusia sanoja hyvinvoinnista, psykiatrisesta sairaanhoidosta ja mielenterveydestä. Aiheista tehdään erilaisia tehtäviä: keskustellaan, luetaan ja kirjoitetaan. Kävelemme ulkona ja sisällä.

    Lapinlahden sairaala oli Suomen ensimmäinen psykiatrinen sairaala. Vuonna 2008 hoitaminen sairaalassa loppui, mutta kaunis talo ja ihana piha ovat siellä vielä.

    Marraskuussa:  Sodan jäljet Pohjois-Haagassa, la 11.11. klo 13-15 
    Tule mukaan puhumaan suomea, kävelemään ulkona, katsomaan ja oppimaan uusia sanoja. Opiskelemme Suomen, Ruotsin ja Venäjän historiaa… Jäljet löytyvät Pohjois-Haagasta.   Kävelemme metsässä, kallioilla ja ja poluilla. Käymme myös juoksuhaudassa. Kaikki tämä Helsingissä!
