Finnish from CEFR level A 2.1 towards B 1.1 For students, who have a strong desire to learn Finnish!
Live online once a week + homework (1-2 hours/week)
We will study both grammar and vocabulary, such as:
- conjugating verbs (preesens, imperfekti, perfekti ja pluskvamperfekti), also negative
- the passive and the spoken language form for me (menemme > me mennään)
- the passive in imperfect  (mentiin)
- endings -na and -ksi
- locational endings in plural
- comparative and superlative (iso > isompi > isoin)
This course is suitable for students, who like to study grammar in a group, and want to speak in Finnish language. We will work together in Zoom every week, but in addition, you will get further explanations and interesting assignments to do on your own. Homework includes also written assignments by email to the teacher.
Previous studies in Finnish are required. The language of instruction will be mostly Finnish. Don’t be afraid – the teacher shows the way.
After your payment has been processed, you will get further instructions for joining the course as well as the Zoom link.

Material: The teacher’s material. No textbook.
Schedule: Wednesdays 13:10-14:10 Finnish time (no lesson on Oct. 16)

Great and useful course
During the course we learnt point by point of the necessary grammar to finally be able to speak as natively as possible. Taru is a kind teacher, always willing to explain and help you. The classes are online in groups and also in small groups, you always have the possibility of speak, ask, practice. Thanks for everything Taru

Gentle Deep dive into Finnish Grammar
This was my first time attending a pure grammar course and needless to say Finnish Grammar is considered one of the toughest on earth. So I was worried but over a period of 10 weeks, this course helped me to take the 1st step to actually learning the grammar and then using it by speaking. Taru kept us enagaged in the class and break out rooms were really helpful. Along with Grammar we also learnt something about Finnish culture. Overall a great course for some one who has only present and past tense knowledge to learn the tenses and new cases.

Very friendly course
I have been doing Finnish courses with Taru for over a year at this point.
This course didn’t disappoint either – we went through some crucial aspects of the Finnish grammar together in the usual method. Each lesson we were introduced to the piece of grammar, some exampled, then talking with classmates. It’s a simple yet effective way to learn a language.
I just wish I had a bit more energy to prepare for this course but on the other hand I wish we had gotten more writing assignments as homework.

The course is good. Great material for learning grammer. Exercises and speaking practices in all lessons. I would have liked more practice for homework. But overall great class.
