Samantha Motter –
Taru was encouraging, helpful, responsive, and overall, a great teacher. This course provided a good start to seriously studying Finnish, and I couldn’t be happier that I took it.

This is a very good language course indeed, joined the follow-up course without a second thought.
This beginner course definitely requires some effort outside the lectures, but not to any extreme measures. If you’re too busy, the minimum homework takes just 1-3 hours, which means good flexibility. (I strongly recommend working hard though.)
Overall, the course is much deeper than I expected. A solid choice if you mean it seriously but don’t really want to study “full-time”. Also nicely balanced between language vs. fun & culture. Taru is responsive to feedback and overall a good teacher.
(I would maybe add en.wiktionary.org to the list of recommended support tools. Worked very well for me, at least for the “hard linguistic theory”.)
